Petite Modeling is for those who don’t fit the height and size requirement standards of fashion modeling. Not to
be confused with print and commercial modeling that use models of all sizes to promote products, ideas, etc., to
the general public, petite modeling targets a much smaller audience. The standard requirements are: to be 5’1” to
5’8,” have a great, proportionate figure, and beautiful, flawless face. Basically, a petite model must have the
same qualities as a high-end fashion model but on a petite frame.
Commercial and Print models are not always required to be stunningly beautiful, but petite models generally are.
The amount of jobs available for petite models are few and far between, as it is a very small niche market. The
fashion industry has a ways to go before it fully embraces petite modeling, but this shouldn’t discourage you from
pursuing it. If you fit the requirements, go for it. Just don’t expect too much from it.
There are other markets a petite model should consider as well. For example: print, commercial, swimwear,
lingerie and fitness.
